Stress Management
Remember that some stress is healthy and keeps you motivated to accomplish your goals. You want to eliminate unhealthy, excessive stress with excellent stress management approaches.

The following tips are highlights of many possible ways to begin a natural stress management program in your life. Making small changes in the multiple dimensions of your consciousness -- physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually -- can greatly increase your relaxation and improve your stress management.

Spiritual Strategies
This area is between you and the Divine, however you understand God in your heart.

You can reduce stress through prayer, meditation, spiritual exercises or contemplation. Being active in your faith, attending services, and enjoying fellowship with those of like mind, is generally shown to improve health and reduce stress. You can also nurture your spiritual connection in nature if that appeals to you.

Here's what I suggest. Pick one approach compatible with your faith, such as a specific meditation or form of prayer, and practice it regularly. Or perhaps you'll decide to read a page a day in an uplifting book.

Some people like to write their prayers in a "Letter to God," and place them in a special "God Box," and other like to scribble out their thoughts and worries and burn the pages, releasing these concerns to the Divine.

Consistently spending even five to ten minutes a day with a spiritual practice can make major reductions in the stress levels in your life after a little time. You'll be using great stress management approaches as well as reaping the spiritual benefits.

My ebook, The Power of Personal Peace: Reducing Stress by Loving Yourself from the Inside Out, blends techniques of practical spirituality and psychology to help you live with more balance and harmony. It includes several meditative approaches for stress management.

Summary
You may notice that in life, these categories are not as neatly compartmentalized as I've laid them out here. In fact we are each one whole being with many levels of consciousness. These levels of awareness are in constant interplay with each other.

Each of the stress management tips I've shared in Parts I through IV of this series will work more powerfully if you combine tips from the different levels.

For instance, if you are using a mental affirmation such as, "I am staying calm and peaceful at work," you practice the emotional level technique of being an objective observer of your self and your situations, you take a 20-minute walk and read a page from an uplifting book daily, you'll be reinforcing your new skills on many levels. You will almost certainly see better and quicker results in your stress management program.

The trick is, you can start by applying a stress management strategy from any level that appeals to you and it will begin to create a lower stress level. That change will start to pull the other levels of your awareness into a new alignment.

You'll be living more in line with what you want. With a multi-dimensional stress management program, addressing the physical, imaginative, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of life, you'll start to more enjoy peace and calm even while living your dynamic, active and fulfilling life.
